The Damnoen Saduak is the largest and the most popular floating market in Thailand. It's about 100km southest of Bangkok in Ratchaburi province.
The small stalls along the canal where vendors sell drinks, coconut water and souvenirs can be reached via a long tail boat. Hauled like a canoe with an engine mounted on the back, riding in a long tail is an adventure itself.
There are also local women wearing wicker hats that drive tourists on long tail boats through the floating market.
There is plenty of tasty Thai food to try along the docks. It is cooked in boats and served directly from the boat.
Thailand is really the land of smiles and the Damnoen Saduak floating market is no exception. You can find the warmest, friendliest smile no matter if you buy what they sell or not.
